All items over $1,000.00 and all items listed on the equipment exception list regardless of price.

What do I need to do to get an item added to inventory?

As soon as equipment has been received and checked for damage, complete an acquisition card for each item to be added to inventory. Forward the card to Property Control.

How often is equipment added, deleted, or transferred on inventory?

Property Control completes a monthly report of all property transactions. This report is sent to the Office of the State Auditor on the 15th of the each month.

Who assigns inventory numbers?

Property Control assigns all inventory numbers.

Who is responsible for tagging equipment

Who do I notify if I discover something is missing or if a theft has occurred?

Immediately notify the MSU Police Department (662-325-2121) or local Law Enforcement Agency, and then notify Property Control using an MSU Property Disposal Form, copy of the Police Report, and signed affidavit form.

Who is responsible for signing an affidavit when an item can not be located during an property audit?

The person who is responsible for that item must sign the affidavit prior to the equipment being removed from inventory. The individual with direct responsibility for the missing item should sign the affidavit.

Where do I get the barcode inventory stickers?

The barcode inventory stickers are generated by Property Control. Duplicate or replacement tags can be obtained by contacting Property Control at 325-2545.
